The fool and the wise often are equally simple natured beings. The main difference therein is, that the fool unconsciously yields to laws which he neither perceives, nor understands. While the wise consciously cooperates with laws he perceives, because he knows, not cooperating with them produces suffering.

But what are the laws the wise understands, while the fool does not? Because of which the one suffers, while the other does not?

The Fool

The fool does not understand any distinction in the nature of the material elements; therefore he suffers.

He does not understand, the nature of his body. How unsuitable food, lack of movement and lack of rest, produce malfunctioning of the body. Therefore he suffers.

He does not understand, how a malfunctioning body will produce malfunctioning of the mind. How stagnations in the liver may lead to mind states of irritability and anger. How muscular tensions may lead to constrained states of mind. And how ease of body, produces ease of mind. Therefore he suffers.

He does not understand, how an sense-impression which grows in the darkness of a mind void of introspection produces phantoms which will spook the field of vision of consciousness. Therefore he suffers.

He does not understand how a thought fructified by intent, produces a narrowing down and concretisation of experience. Therefore he suffers.

He does not understand how wisdom and an understanding of things, can lead to the ending of all suffering. Therefore he suffers.

The Wise

On the other hand, the wise, does understand various distinctions in the nature of the material elements. Therefore he overcomes all suffering.

He does understand, the nature of his body. How unsuitable food, lack of movement and lack of rest, produce malfunctioning of the body. Therefore he overcomes all suffering.
